Overview
Favoured by sports and wildlife photographers, this lens offers a useful telephoto focal length, fast maximum aperture, image stabiliser and the fastest autofocusing available.
The image stabiliser provides the equivalent of two stops of shutter speed making hand-holding possible even in low-light conditions such as at indoor sports events or at dusk on safari. The two image stabiliser modes allow you to shoot both static subjects and moving subjects and still achieve sharp images.
The fluorite lens element and two ultra-low dispersion (UD) glass elements ensure optimum image quality and the sharpest images by eliminating secondary spectrum and controlling aberrations.
The magnesium alloy lens body keeps the weight down and with the weather-sealing provides a tough case for the optics to survive the rigours of life with a professional photographer on the move.
Combined with an EF1.4xII or EF2xII Extender, the lens becomes a 420mm f/4 or 600mm f/5.6. In both cases, the image stabiliser and autofocus will still function correctly.

poland 2011 by glenn lambert
I ve hired this lens from lenspimp earlier this year and have to say , its fantastic , the images from it when connected to an eos 7d where simply stunning. Its fast focus meant capturing a wide variety of wildlife was just so easy . I added a x2 converter , that gave me 600mm at f5.6 and it was totally reliable . Great quality optics coupled with super quick focus means youll have a great chance of capturing that ultimate shot . 10/10
