The inclusion of a 3-stop image stabiliser means you can handhold the lens even at the maximum focal length and still achieve sharp pictures. Featuring two types of aspherical lens element – two glass mold (GMo) and one replica – and three ultra-low dispersion (UD) elements, the optical performance is as expected from an L-series lens, with sharp, high contrast images and minimised aberrations.

The ring-type USM autofocus motor will ensure you don’t miss a shot through poor focus and the full-time manual focus ability gives you the option of fine-tuning the focus at any time. Dust and drip proof construction, especially effective when attached to an EOS-1series camera, mean this lens is ready to work in severe conditions. A friction zoom ring tops off the lens to allow you to set the zoom action for the subjects you’re shooting.
